The ignore function is a very nice tool if you are tired of seeing posts from a certain person, or wish to temporarily block posts from all those involved in an argument.
Unfortunately, I have found that people quoting each other's posts completely counters this function. If person X is posting rude comments and is therefore being ignored, there will often be 1-3 people quoting him in their reply to the rude message. I don't want to have to ignore 15 people in a thread because 1 person is being rude and the others are responding to him.
Therefore, if possible, I suggest implementing an ignore feature which also removes quotes linked the the ignored person's user name.

tl;dr:
Make the ignore function also ignore quotes.

Fairly certain that there's nothing that can be done via standard vBulletin options. A plugin would most likely need to be installed.

You are probably right, but there must be some easily accessible plugin available to fix it. Considering the huge number of forums out there, I can't have been the first person to ever encounter this problem. It shouldn't be very a very difficult fix either, since clicking "quote" creates a code for linking the text to a user name - so you would simply have to block that code.

It is as simple as installing a quick plugin. I do remember Avery saying a while back that he doesn't like messing with plugins because he crashed the forums once. Or, something to that effect anyway.

Why does everyone quote the entire previous post in order to add two lines of text (drivel)? I'm tired of seeing the same POS reposted redundantly by some idiots wishing to fill screens with someone elses posting.

Mike, I couldn't agree more - especially when someone quotes a post full of huge pictures without editing anything out.

I form a new forum party now -----

BAN THE TOTAL QUOTE FEATURE PARTY

HMike

1. Also ban oversized pictures.
2. Rather than copy an entire posting, simply reference the post number you dispute. We are all(?) educated people and can reference footnotes.
