[img heavy] DX MTE SSC-P7 flashlight REVIEW

these are new TrustFire 18650 3.7V lithiums from DX, bought with the flashlight. I've got another one (bought as 2-pack)
well maybe my DMM needs new battery and because of that it isn't accurate...

A more inaccurate way to tell current is heat. If the light gets extremely hot after 5 minutes on high, then it's at a good current and something's wrong with the multimeter. If it's still cool, it probably is more like 800mA. But you could be using the wrong DMM settings or cord positions. When I first tried it, the current was always 500mA, and I was getting frustrated because I knew it was higher then that. Then I discovered I had put the wire in the 250mA slot instead of the 10A slot.

I tried to hook up the pill directly to the battery, it got warm after 10s... I must clean it

boost driver will not work with 18650 and a Vf of 3.3V. That's good, though. Boost drivers can be relatively expensive.

You can use amc7135 boards with 8 chips on it to limit your current to 2.8A.

Also, if you use a better battery, you will be able to pull more amps.

Of course, a good cleanup will always help. The thing about China lights is, the much much lower price means that instead of a worker fiddling with it until it works, you need to do that part.

Randomluiga, you are lucky. My meter is a little cheaper, and I forgot about the 250mA limit. So now I can only use the 10A setting until I get around to finding another fuse to replace the blown one.
