I need help in Dallas, Tx..

Is there anyone in Dallas, Texas, that is willing to show a complete laser noob, how to gather the pieces neccessary, and build, a good laser for both show, and thermal tests? Pardon the Star Wars reference, but I need a Jedi Master to show this little padawan the ropes...

So far I've just bought alot of cheap chinese lasers, and ebay lasers, which have yet to arrive(just ordered last night). While it's cool that I can buy them online, I bet there's nothing quite like completing your own, and have it work..

So...I could provide snacks, beer, materials, etc.. if you provide the knowledge...
