Yep, one of the many dream projects I've been thinking about. There are a couple of cool inexpensive pen builds that have been done. Jayrob has an awesome DIY project here based off of a tutorial by Rog8811...

Now I hate to ask but does anyone know where I can get a nice host? I don't want the flashlights and I was thinking something custom. Any ideas?

MrCrouse and Sinner both have new custom hosts coming out and are taking orders now. The Krytons are nice and Mohrenberg may have some left, but not sure. If you want to spend some real $ DeadEyeMo has the classic Sirius back on-line. All very exciting LPF laser hosts.
