:wtf: Holy Crap..... you have a 200mW Laser that is probably
outputting 100mW and you are flailing it around like it was
a flashlight.....:eek:

What make you think that Lasers are Toys...:thinking:

The majority of knowledgeable Members here treat their
Lasers with respect due to the possible harm that they can
do when used in a childish way..

From your post the best thing you could do is get rid of
your Lasers until you research the proper SAFE use of
Lasers in general and find the respect they deserve to
keep you from needing to invest in a White Cane or
Seeing Eye dog....

Perhaps the problem that you think Lasers are Toys is
evidenced in your Username....:whistle:

you misunderstand me good sir, i have not yet got the laser of 200mw I only have a cheap 1mw one from ebay that I was useing kind of responsible for that power

just I never thourt with a cheap 1mw over spec laser or a 200mw/100mw would be so dangerous to use even on a white wall reflecting back you should have like 15foot distance

I am learning and would never use a 200mw laser as comfortably and relaxed like I would a 1mw one

I am learning and have ordered my safety goggles same time as the laser, they are both in transit now.....


is it ok too look at a 200mw beam with out the glasses on if lets say your pointing it at the sky or on a black surface so its not directly pointing in your eye

also what is a safe distance if i shin it on a white matt wall with out glasses on lets say what is the safe fragmentation/de-fusion refection distance


oh yeh that tobacco pipe sounds cool, would it be radioactive?

p.s sorry mate I dont mean a laser is a actual toy, but it is a type of entertainment device not to be used like a toy but on essence it really is a toy as for it dont serve no real propose except fun

i am a responable person or at least I think I am I wouldnt be on here learning as much as i can If never cared

That's Great that you will have appropriate Laser Safety
Goggles/Glasses for your new Laser.

Yes pointing it on a flat black non reflective surface at
a distance of more that 3-6 feet should be safe..
Pointing your Laser into the sky is also safe as long as
you are sure there are no aircraft in the area...

Remember that we wear Laser Safety Goggles/Glasess
in case an unforeseen Laser Beam hit to the eye accident
occures.

I have a low powered 405nm 50mW Laser that I can
focus to a small beam profile and it burns wood.
What do you think that beam reflected off a shiny surface
could do to your retina....:thinking:

Better to be over protective and aware than get one bad
high power hit to the eye...

no the pipe would get radiated by photons not the type you should be worried about now vaseline glass has the bad radiation but not very much of it, so no problem. I play with my lasers and even my experiments are me playing, I mean its not like I am working at cern, I played with lawn darts as a kid no one got hurt. just play safe
 
Lasers emit non-ionizing radiation, not the ionizing type from Uranium that can cause DNA damage. It is relatively "safe" in the context that it won't cause DNA damage, but is still dangerous due to the concentrated thermal energy.
