how to modify an ebayser

With the preticular you used does it only mod up to 10mw not more? Does it have an IR filter?

im not sure how much it will be outputting in the end, it really just depends on the laser you get. i was just guessing the 10mw based on how bright it looked.

dont know if this info is irrelevant now or not but, meh... i use my mobile phone camera to look where i dont want my eyes ( down lasers and diodes) as its cheap vga it can see many wavelengths our eyes cant (tv remotes and such) anyway thats one way to check for any invisible nasty.... well its what i do lol.... sorry bout the nonsensical rambling but, heads full of derivatives for my exam tomorrow.

I use my cell phone to look where I don't want too lol.

But this pot mod only brings it up to 10mW? I modded my leadlight a little over a year ago and it still works fine after LOTS of use but are you sure it's only 10mW? I was thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 or so by the increase in brightness but if it's only 10 I'll be really happy once I order a big laser.

it was only an ebayser so you cant expect that much of it. a leadlight would give much better results.

Ok, a couple of questions...
1. is the variable resister a knob?
2. do all lasers on ebay (5mw ones) qualify for this mod?
3. does it have to be a certain color?

Kaspar, you just need to understand that it is a way to beat the system. Get a 10mw for a 5mw price.
Also, its easy and its something to know.

my laser pointer, unknown model, make, etc.. is very strange. i took it apart and what do i see? pretty much ill just to draw it in paint and attach it.

there, finally drew it. its drawn fairly accuratly. can some1 help me out and tell me whats going in it?

I would say that on the second pic, there should be a connection between the second and third bright green bar.

Besides that, the black thing is probably a resistor (cheap laser?), so to "mod" it, you would have to unsolder that and solder one with lower resistance or a potentiometer in ints place.

Good luck with cramming an smd-poti into that thing and soldering it...

But if you want to know how it works, read here: spring connects to battery and switch, and the switch shorts bars 1 and 2 on the bottom picture. Then the current "hops" from bar 2 to bar 3, runs through the resistor(?), and changes the side of the board at that little hole. There it goes through that apparently metal bar, through the diode (creating laserlight in the process) and leaves it through the diode casing.

If you want to mod it, your best bet would be an external solution, or a new casing.

well, does it lase?

Hm, maybe some hard-to-see-connection.

Can you take a picture?

my cheap cameras cant see it, sony cybershot aint good at focusing close range and my $900 canon doesnt have a memory card >.< i drew the diagram VERY closely, its almost the exact same thing as u would see in a picture.
and wat do u mean does it lase, its a laser that works fine...
