How to Mod The AixiZ Half Threaded Lens to Use A Focusing Ring with "No Glue"

Hi All,

How to Mod The AixiZ Half Threaded Lens to Use A Focusing Ring with "No Glue".

Its very Easy & Simple to do and can be done in less then 5 minutes.;)

I took the lens apart and very carefully not to scratch or dirty the lens when Removing the assembly, i then reversed the 3 elements inside so the None threaded part is what goes in First and the Threaded part is where you screw the focusing Rings on. This might also work with the O like Half threaded lens aswell.

Here is how its done.:)

Here is everything you need. The main told is a flat head screwdriver. You might want to get some tweezers too. SO you can handle the lenses.

Now your going to want to flip the lens ho i have it in the picture and place the screwdriver in the little slots on the lens to unscrew the securing nut. Turn it counter clockwise.

You will then have this. Then carefully Remove the lenses and inner spacer. I like to place the lenses on a clean piece of plastic to keep from getting dirty. I used a sandwich bag.

Now That you have the lens out of the Half threaded nut follow this correct assembly to put the lens back in the Right Way.

You will have this.

Screw the securing nut back in and thats it. DO not over tighten the securing nut. You dont want to damage the lens or rack it. One you feel a little Resistance. Turn it a tab more and that perfect.

Now your lens will look like this with the focusing ring on.

Another view.

So as you can see there is still enough threads on there to still be able to screw into the Aixiz Module. You might want to use some plumber tape around the lens so it doesn't wiggle around when focusing.:)

Thats pretty much it. Very simple to do and no more messing with glue to attach the focusing ring on the Half thread 445nm/405nm lens from Aixiz. This might also work with the O-Like Half threaded too but i dont get mine in yet.

As Always,

:thanks: For Looking.!!!

Keep on Lazing.....

Great idea. Question though. Will the lens be effected because the coating position is being changed? Are you getting the same power output?

Re: How to Mod The AixiZ Half Threaded Lens to Use A Focusing Ring with "No Glue"

Thanks TJ.:)

I see the power being same more or less +/- a Few mW.

Yes the focusing of the laser i can only see a difference when iam about less then 6 inches away from an object. So anything after 6 inches away will be just fine.

SO in other word I cannot focus to a Pinpoint anymore when the laser is less then 6 inches away from an object.

The coating/lens position have not been changed.:) It was just reversed so now its facing the other way so the assembly can fit in the Half threading nut with the threaders going out wards.

I guess the real question would be why would you bother getting the new Aixiz half threaded if they now have the same assembly as the new full threaded? I have tested a batch and got very similar readings with both and they both have the same splash so I am assuming they are the same as far as internals. The O-Like half threaded compared to the old Aixiz full threaded seemed to have a little bump in power and had the least splash to them. I have some coming and plan on testing them against the new Aixiz ones since they have been reported to have a small bump in power as well.

Its for those that have the Half threaded lenses already and dont use them for this exact reson.

Not to buy new ones.;) As they are the same lenses.
