how to clean your laser

if it is just the micro fiber cloth then first class in a box is $10 and in a envelope is like $5.50 (shipping is $4.60 and padded envelope from walmart is around $1.00 i believe).
idk why i didnt edit the first price out since i found the weight of the items, guess it was late and i didnt realize i left that in there

i cleaned my lens today . watched a video on youtube and that gave me the info i needed to take the actual glass lens out of the holder . but i think it was gleud in or somthing seems to be that some residue of the glue was still in there and the lens might be a bit crooked after i placed it back .
i'm glad it's back in and i am not gonna attemt another cleaning becouse putting it back in makes it just as if not more dirty as it was before .
looked at it whith a jewel eyeglas (loop) and the glas is chipped on the edge of the outer side . but it does not seem to effect my laser verry mutch .

maybe some of you know a site where i can order different types of lenses so i can replace it and buy backups

BTW DJNY, adorama is a very good seller. they sell quality camera products and have great customer service. ive bought many items from them and they are very good at shipping quick. PM me if you would like to use me as a middleman for you and use the prices that i most recently found

adorama is a useless site .
it's for foto camera's not lasers . they don't have a tiny lens that can simply be screwed into my laser .
like the brass component containing the lens like in this picture's

ah thanks for the link man.
although i can't find anything on that site . i will keep searching .
the problem is they have lenses that will fit in my laser (8mm 0.5 tread)
but they don't have it for my wave length . it's either to high or to low .
(got 532nm btw)
anyway i cleaned my lens again and it's MUTCH MUTCH better now .
still the edges of the lens are chipped but that does not show up in the laser .
anyway it's a near perfect beam now almost not dirt what so ever but maybe more will show up as it get's darker

ill keep my eye out for a lens that fits your laser as i browse the web and congrats on making the lens better after cleaning

These tips are so good and helpful. I am also want to clean my old laser and just try to do but can,t clean properly, these tips are so good and helpful for me to clean it.

also have used the "common" lens and optics cleaining stuff. But most of them are expensive or don't do the job as expected.

If you really need to clean laser optics the cheapest way is to get these two solvents:

  • acetone
  • methanol

You should get these at any drugstore or pharmacy (at least in Europe). But take care on the quality. It has to be 99.5% grade or more. Don't use the cheap stuff from hardware stores.

To apply the solvents I do use the cotton tips and lens tissues from Thorlabs

And if you once have spent some money on this it lasts for a long time. And you don't ruin lens coatings etc.

Also take a look into the famous SAMs FAQ articles about cleaning optics

My diode (M140 445nm) without any lens used to make a big rectangle shape (clear).

Now it makes a big rectable shape (same size, etc) but with a very distorted look (seems like dots everywhere). The batteries are the same and have the same charge... Is the diode itself dirty?
