I was very tempted to order the 150mW+ pen myself, but <200mW of power doesn't excite me like it used to.

I think the high power blues are making people spoiled. My favorite laser right now is a 60mW 448nm.. I have a 1.2W but unless i'm outside.. it's WAY too much to be shining around inside the house.

Yeah... shining around a 1W+ plus is not a good idea, I'm always paranoid about burning something. I do like to just look at the beams though.

Mostly I find myself using a 200mW 532nm outside and a 20mW inside. Was actually playing with a 3mW 650nm last night before I went to sleep, even that is fun in complete dark.

excuse me infinitus.. but why you should deside ANOTHER ONE laser in the 200me range?
i see in your signature.... that own a low of lasers. so... it is useless to have another 1 laser at same power.

i would also buy a 445nm laser.. but i don't know wich model or where to buy it.
is it REALLY FINE to see a 445nm beam?

Well I am a laser addict you know:p

Going past ~200mW with 532nm there is a very large jump in price. So my wallet it much more comfortable at that amount for impulse purchases.

There are two more important reasons why I keep getting lasers in the 200mW range though aside from that;

1. Different hosts... I like some variety.
2. Different beam specs.

As for 445nm lasers... they do produce a great beam at night, but I often find myself not taking the 445nm out of my pocket because of the raw power it has. I mean inside a 445 is just too bright for nearly everything.

There are lots of kits on here... or if you want to buy one, yobresal has a couple of great builds, and the survival laser is nearly identical. There is always a 445nm for sale in the B/S/T section. IMO the lasers built by guys on here are way better than anything made by other companies. At least when it comes to 445nm lasers.

Not really. I play with my little 60mW 445 inside all the time. ;) Or I can put a 10440 in it instead of a 1.5v AAA and get 375mW out of it. heh. Plus it has low modes, so it'll do 8mw and 40mw, repectively.

I don't have any 445's with output lower than 200mW. Even at 200mW I don't know why, but from a safe distance I end up seeing a rather annoying after image.

So for me... all my 445's are too powerful to look at inside:(

Doesn't mean I don't take them out all the time to just look at the beam though.

There is some material on photochemical effects and "Blue Light Damage" posted around... it's kind of scary (at least to a newbie like me)... I will take it seriously when I get around to getting a 445.

I've seen several people say that the spot from a 445 "bothers them".

I suppose that since I have my 2.1w 445, all of my other lasers are useless :p

yes.. but i NEED a 445nm with the front threads ... to allow to screw the 5 and + changeable heads for effects.

and NO ONE build seem to have this feature :(

I don't know if those cheap changeable effects lenses will even work with 445's or any 1W+ lasers for that matter.

@aryntha - If you decide to toss some out let me know I'll give them a good home:p
