How do I build a 405nm laser?

Hey, what’s a complete list of parts to build a <500mw 405nm laser?

I would really appreciate an instructional video to put together the parts. And I’m definitely open to JAD kits

but I can’t find them. Btw I’m not electronic savvy so please be patient with me.

Target price is under $100

A complete diode/driver/module from member DTR's store and a ready to go plug and play host from member Lifetime17.
Connect the 2 wires slide in the module and done. Can be done for $100 or less.

Lifetime17 has recently posted on his sales thread, so look a the new posts. He has tons of pic's of hosts or complete builds.
Google Dtr. and look at his diode section. It will show bare 405 diodes or ones already in a module and with a driver and ready to go. He will set the driver close to the output that you want. He is also a member here.

The S06J is likely the best diode to use for what you want. It is a TO-18 case, 5.6 mm diameter. You can get up to 600 mW out of one of these, but the lower you set the driver current the longer it will likely last. I would try for about 500 mW or a little less.

Wait, so how much current do I set for about 400mw?

(sorry for double posting, I think that’s a rule lol)

edit: wait the S06J says “The gadget spec URL could not be found”

About 275 mA should get you a little over 400 mW with a short focal length aspheric lens like the G2. If you use a multi-element lens you'll likely get up to 320 mW.

So if I use a 3 element lens how many mA should I put to get around 425?

The higher the current the less likely it will last. That said, about 340 to 350 mA will likely get you at least 400 mW with the 3 element lens.
