How can I make my laser beam more sharp ?

Hello !

Just got my O-Like 405nm laser, and it's a little disappointing. I have iShow, and while displaying really basic shapes, I can tell that the laser beam has "width" - which means that the beam isn't sharp enough.
I also purchased from them a guarding glasses, and when I look at the beam with it it seems really nice and sharp.

Is it possible to make my laser beam more focused ?

Thank you .

If the beam looks sharp through safety glasses that's all that matters when dealing with blu-ray lasers. The short violet wavelength makes the dot/beam difficult for your eyes to focus on, so it will usually appear "fuzzy" unless you look through goggles.

ElektroFreak, I'm new to lasers so what you just said sounds logical ...
ELEktron, I meant for divergence, as the laser beam does look fuzzy list ElectroFream said ..

I had no idea this was the case.
What about blue lasers such as 445nm or 473nm ? The human eye has trouble focusing on that color in the dark as well ?

With 445nm the effect is still noticeable, but it's not as pronounced as it it is with 405nm.. 473nm is almost teal/turquoise, so the blurred effect is all but nonexistent.

The same effect is noticeable when looking at a blacklight from a distance.. it's nearly impossible to focus your eyes on the source.
