HOP-7061 sled?

so my friend that works for dreamworks was going through their old computers and ripped a few drives for me that he was replacing. all of them are marked as HOP-7061 drives. i can't seem to find any info on what speed they were or if they were burners or just readers. i also don't know which diode is which :cryyy:
been too long since i been here >_<
 





You could always hit them with 200mA and see what happens. ;D If it blows, it was just a weak laser, right?

BTW, I know you haven't been here for a while, so I'm gonna tell you to check out the 445nm section. 1W++ blue laser 5.6mm diodes for cheap. There are some for $33 in the BST.

Wow no easy info to pull up on that drive of yours looks to be generic dvd laser but all the specs i pull up are to vague. i think he can check by looking at the optics and the lasers itself ie if the laser has 4 pins or 3 and the order there in loc lsc pics might help us out.
 
it looks to be a 3 pin. and what is the deal with those 445nm diodes? when did this happen? i need to save up for one of them o.O glad i came back to lasers lol and i just ordered a 5mW to play with for old times sake ;_;

and no never went to necto, don't even know what that is. lately i haven't gotten any sleep cuz of teh babies >_<
 
casio made a projector and i and many other users are doing gb and harvesting them.
they are amazing. they make most greens look like toys...

Right.. actually not that bad an idea if you have no further information. All red laser diodes suitable for serious application will take 200 mA without a problem, if they die at that point, so be it.

The problem comes when they survive: if you have only one diode, there is only one way to find its limits, and that will kill it.
