Help! I'm looking at the laser bee hlpm 2 . $69 for a lpm seems cheap.I dont want to spend hundreds on a meter. Has anyone had experience with this unit?

Wrong section!

Had it some years ago, it´s good for starters, but when want to stay in the hobby, look for a better one. The HLPM2 only measures up to 200mW with a good accuracy.

Thanks for stepping in DJNY...

As DJNY said it is an entry level Optical LPM Module.
If you are not measuring Lasers that output more
than 200 mW then it will work for you.

Look on our website or eBay for other LaserBee products
that can handle much higher output Lasers.

Thanks guys.I don't plan to measure more than 200 mW for now. I'm sure the more I work with lasers the stronger I will want.I'm in college and don't have a lot of money.
Where would a question like this go? I don't wanna keep screwing up.
Thanks

If I hit this thing with something higher than 200 mW will it fry it, or just not read? Id hate to burn it out with ir or something over spec.
Also can I move this thread ?

If you go over the max rating you will overheat the
Optical Sensor and your readings will be off and far
from accurate.
If enough Laser generated heat is introduced you
could irreversibly Damage the Optical Sensor.

No... You need to ask a Mod or the Admin to move
a Thread.
