High powered 680/685?

I would like to build a decent ~75mW 680 build with the currently available diodes, but I was wondering if there were any affordable 200mW+ diodes in this wavelength. I love the color, so more visibility would be my only goal. I've seen some websites showing them in Class IV range, even 1W diodes, however you must ask for specifications, so I have (on the 250mW, I figure the 1W's will be at least 4 figures.) Does anyone know of a source to get them now, and a price? Thank you very much!

You can get 3 packs of 50mW 685nm diodes for like $12 or so on ebay.

I think those are rated at 35mw. But can sometimes be pushed near 50mw. I got 6 and they were very touchy blew a few before I decided to just go normal power at 36mw.

I am sure there are high-power 865nm diodes. You just need a lot of greenies.
For the hobbyist the $12 685nm is good enough :)

You need a lot of greenies? And it's not good enough for me :p I like visibility, and can't make fog.

Highest powered 685nm diodes are the lucky ones on eBay. You won't see one exceed 75mW. Also, while it's on the thread title, there are however 1W+ C-mount 660nm (give or take 10nm, the more power the deeper red usually) diodes.

Edit: Or you can combine the beams in the 685's

I'm making a 1W labby with these new 3.8mm's and I've found sources of class IV 685's, however they're probably going to be in 4 digit prices, but I figured we might as well try.

Well if you're talking 4-digit+ prices then yes you're pretty much getting a diode of any wavelength you specify between 220nm and 2000nm ;)
