Hello,

cmak asked me to introduce myself here, so I'll do my best. ;)

My name is Andreas (Andrew) and I'm living in Germany.
Most of my friends call me Mounty because of my last name.
Hope, you'll do so, too. :)
I'm an engineer for RF-electronics and I'm interested in physics, optics and obviously lasers. :)
Well, "interested in" does it not describe exactly, I'm more than fascinated of the laser light itself and its qualities.
It astonishes me all the time when I look at all those things what you can do with a laser.

Now I'm going to built a tiny collection of small lasers (class IIIa and maybe IIIb but not more than 10mW) in the visible range. I'd like to have them just for fun and some nice experiments (e.g. I found a lucent plastics in a toy which becomes darker when you light it with a 405nm beam, and when the beam stops, it will return in its old state).

If you have some more question, please let me ḱnow
and thank you for your warm welcome.

Greetings from Germany,

Mounty

Can't really say anything more than, "Hello", too!

Great site this. Enjoy all that you learn and build from it.

(The first thing I think you'll learn is that your self imposed limit of 10mW is going straight out of the window with your very first build!!!! :D )

Best of luck...

Hello,

Welcome to the forum. I'd like to know more about the lucent plastic you discovered.
