Hi from England!

A lot depends on the type of host( body) driver , lens and other components, but you'd be in the neighborhood of $300-$400 and up depending on options.

Take a look at the link in my sig right before collection thread link. It has a buch of high power ones and I can tell you how much if you see one you like

You can get 1000mw for around $100

I just sold that glowing laser for under $200 so if you keep a look out great deals pop up .

Wow, TBH im not that good with nm, but a green 2W would be nice, quite bright, able to burn, and lightweight. But im drawing up plans for a prototype cannon, using WL 2W arctics. using ten 2W lasers, a clever distance sensor and a lens, to focus the ten beams onto one tiny spot.

I don't really think I am going to spend that much but if I buy this laser pointer Stylish 532nm Green Laser Pointer Light PEN Lazer Beam 1mW High Power AU Stock | eBay and put a module like this Laser Diode Module 532nm Laserdiode Party 100mW Green | eBay in the laser pointer is that a nice 100mW laser pointer or will I need extra parts?

Well because the green you speak of isnt a diode laser expect to pay several thousand dollars for a 2w green, not to mention it will not be handheld lol. The blue 445 are the ones reaching those powers for that price.

You can get a better module from techhood for cheaper. To be safe, only order from techhood in regards to diodes or modules if you must go eBay. If you want good diodes go to DTR LASERS. trust me on this one. Don't want it to show up and be 5mw when you paid for 50mw.
And instead of getting a working laser to gut, just grab a host. The hosts have a set screw, and all you do is drop in the module, instead of trying to extract a glued in crap module will all sorts of extra parts.

Oh and check out the 11w hell burner. It's 8 m140 diodes knife edged into one 11w beam. Pretty crazy stuff. Also not a handheld but who cares lol

Sheesh, couldnt I get a high power ~1W green then use WL's 'expander' to make the point more smaller, effectively making the dot ten times more powerful?

I do agree techhood has great prices for their items I am wondering if this module 532nm 120mW Green Laser Module Green Laser DOT Module 3 0V 3 7V Spcial Offer | eBay and this host Waterproof Laser Torch Host FOR 12x60mm Module W Waterproof Lens Polished Color | eBay is that all I need?

Looks great! You should be able to just slide the module in be done with it. Make sure to ask techhood to be sure they match up in length. Wouldn't want the module to be too long. I actually have two of those modules from techhood and they meter at exactly 120mw. For $30 that's a great deal.

I'm not sure if that host has a set screw. So you might need a little thermal adhesive but that would be it.

Ok great the module size is 12x45 and the host says it fits 12x60 modules is that still fine or will a different host b needed?

Looking good my friend,. I think he has a few different sized modules so just make sure you get one that fits, and has a spring. My 120 have springs so you should be good. If it comes with a button no big deal you'll just have to bypass it. But my 120 had no button iirc. If they did that would have been the first thing I took off, but iirc they don't have one so no worries :) you can buy that exact laser your about to make from sflasers for $50 but I don't know if it would make it to oz

I estimated about $48 all up so doing it the way I am seems good but the button do u mean the module may have a button so I should get a module with a spring on the end of it for the battery or do u mean make sure I have a spring on my host?
This is a picture of the module http://imgur.com/wq1pABK

The module should come with a spring on the bottom of the driver. The host should ave a spring on the tail cap, so your good. There may be a button on the driver in case you wanted to use a side clicky host, but since your not, if it does have a button, you just jump the tiny button. But like I said I don't thin my 120 mw from him had a button. If it does to jump it just bridge the tiny gap with some solder to render the button useless. Easy stuff. This will be a little ten minute build as long as no problems arise. I once had a module and a custom ms v1 host . I think I made a working laser in literally two min. Lol .

Welcome to the forum Laser! :)

Kewl can't wait (I always love building I love fixing rc cars) and yeah $50 for a decent pointer isn't bad considering it is 120mW and the $8 is 1mW
