Sorry about the constant posting.. but I figured it out.. so I turned the fan to full and did an LPM test.. and it came up at 27mW of IR for sure..

At first it was small incriments of 1mW a second practically.

Then it dropped to 5...

I can see a very very faint reddish glow with glasses on.. so I'm assuming this is a fried diode..?

How would I do this.


Btw: I've taken all the individual crystal holders out and the crystals look fine to be honest.. if I was to buy another pump diode what would it be.. 2W? because this was labelled as 1W when I bought it



Edit: Also theres a fan setting switch which allows you to (I think) control the ouput of the laser aswell.. I'm only thinking this because the little faint glow gets brighter and darker in accordance to how high and low the fan is set.

So if this is true^^ then perhaps when I get a new diode and put it all back together perhaps then I can adjust it all on a low setting to get it how I want then turn it up when I think it's safe and correctly aligned?

If there is modulation input, I'm not seeing it :(

Measure the diode's current (you know how to use an ammeter, right?). The terminals labeled LD+ and LD- (lone green block) should go to the laser diode, so use those. Be sure it's off when making connections.

I have an idea, how about you wait and see if the diode needs replacing before you replace it :)

Well I'm going to get it on an ammeter at work tommorow.. then check power is going through to everything else.. if the correct amount is going to the diode but it's not lasing properly then it's got to be that.

Crystals are nice and clean there's nothing wrong with them.
 
It could be misalignment, too.

I've moved it all around carefully this way and that and haven't seen one flash of green.

I've also unscrewed the diode from the copper heatsink and LPm'd it.. which came up with no more than 5mW.

Anmeter it. Check the amperage imput. If its low, you can prob fix the driver, otherwise its the diode.

Everything is at it should be voltage and amp wise. so it's the diode.. now I just gotta find out which one it is.. 2W or 3W...

Theres a constant 2.1V going to the diode.. which is what they operate at usually.

It says FL007900 on the side of the c mount if that means anything to anyone?
