So I just got my new rckstar driver and dummy load. I wired it up to the dummy load and adjusted to 120ma. Circut gets warm so I assume it's working. I then soldered on n 803 diode and nothing. Thinking I had a bad diode I took off the diode and re-attached the dummy. Everything tested good again at 120ma so then I soldered on another known good diode and once again nothing. I am showing no current draw on the battery but I do have about 7.5v across the diode. For now power supply is a standard 9 volt battery.

Any ideas? By the way I took the first didode I tried and hooked it to another driver and it worked fine.

are you discharging the capacitor before you hook the diode up? if not your killing the diodes...

You are either hooking it up backward on the Rkcstr (positive pin to negative pad) or you are soldering it on the wrong side of the Rkcstr. IIRC the solder pads are NOT through the board on the Rkcstr. Try soldering it to the other side of the driver.

Thanks guys - spot on diode was hooked up backwards. I have wired several of these but somehow got off track. In a perfect world they would be reversed so you could use the solder tabs on the back of the drive to solder the third tab too.

You CAN do this, but you have to solder a jumper wire over the end to connect the pads.
