Help with 1.5-2w 445nm build

you could get another and like do some parrel type stuff hmm sounds like my 445 build idea TO THE DRAWING BORD!! :eg::lasergun::crackup:

So in order to run 2 drivers in parallel wouldnt you need a switcher to keep them from going thermal

Nope just solder the connectors together and make sure there linearness is heatsinked

:wave::wave::wave:So in theory I can use say a 502ma driver and a 802ma and get 1.3a to diode?

Yup but since you have a ghost drive at 797 why not couple it to a 707 and get 1499ma but u better have AW are better batteries none of that crap er I mean ultrafire batteries

his driver cant even put out one amp so for 445 i call that horrendous. maby if you swapped out the resistors you could get some decent currents but the driver is gonna drop that excess voltage as heat regardless
the X-drive will give the 1.8 amps just be prepared for the 25-35 dollar price tag

No, for a 445 it is the wrong driver to use if you are looking to get full power. Plain and simple. The driver does exactly what it is supposed to do. Nothing horrendous about its operation.

Fake edit:
I forgot, you're the "don't use linear drivers" guy... :tinfoil:

the ghost drive is probably the best linear out there right now but its still linear so it drops all the excess voltage as heat were as a buck regulator turns it into mo' current and ghost im actual thinking about going dual ghost drive 2 for my next 445 just to see how it pans out but whats the min operating voltage on those things
and i recommend AW batteries a lil pricy but worth it

Thanks for the compliment.

The operating voltage is ~2.45V @ 800mA.

You should be able to run them in parallel. I've done a few tests with them in parallel and they work fine. I haven't done an actual parallel build with them yet though.

The highest I set the GhostDrive2 for on my website is 792mA. The minimum "max" current the regulators are capable of is 800mA, but the voltage regulator is technically capable of doing a bit more. You can push them a bit. The data sheet says up to 1300mA. I've overdriven them a couple of times, but usually only get around 1 - 1.2A max before they start freaking out. I don't sell them above 800mA because I want them to be stable.

well at 7$ and in the tiny form factor you could fit 2 in most host without difficulty maby even a c6 which is what i may just build soon still deciding and finalizing

The ghostdrive worked flawlessly on testing and will definately be using again just in my case will not work. :thanks::thanks:lazorlabs hasbeen very helpful with purcchases!!!!!
