Same story starting again:
I got unlucky this time again. It was alive for 2 minutes, then, upon powering up - nothing. I was in such a bad mood and I opened it up and warranty got voided. I have 2 choices: Repair or just do nothing and deal with fact that $480 were just erased.

Here’s what I have:
1) Driver is working, however I don’t know what caused LD to die.

My guesses: I need a 2W 808nm Laser diode without FAC lens.

I hope we can bring it to life together:)

Oh dear. This is one of those problems where the fix is theoretically simple yet in practice is difficult. Guessing on the diode would be unfortunately a bad idea. Beam specs would have to match the original. Whilst you are correct that DL's warranty is now void. It doesn't mean it isn't worth contacting either DL, or a more direct route CNI and finding out what diode they use and whether they will offer to fix your laser for a small fee. Doing it yourself won't be the best option unless someone here is willing to do it for you or guide you through it. The best member that comes to mind here is ultimatekaiser. He works a lot on fixing and realigning members DPSS's. On another note, technically the laser was faulty to begin with, so it will up to the discretion of DL whether they fix your laser for free or not. Just argue that you opened the laser up because it was faulty, you didn't cause the fault by opening the unit up.

I forgot about paid maintenance, thank you will do. Unit was peaking 102mw, I really want them to repair it.

That was a good output, so its a shame the pump died. Hopefully you will get similar output again with a new pump ld.
No problem Nexgen. I hope DL/CNI come up resourceful for you. (y)

It could be a defective driver, I don’t know what caused pump to die.
I already contacted Adam at DL, asking RMA number to ship laser back.

If driver is error, can you test them again with other driver?
It is 2w 808nm so you can use a lm317 and set at 1.25A
I just think about it,it is expensive, better is resend seller
Good luck for all,🙂

Yikes! When you first told me about this I didn't know you had opened it up. Near $500 is a lot to eat, so Curtis' idea of sending it back is the best option I can think of. It should cost you much less that the purchase price if you cannot get them to honor your warranty.

Used to be the case that CNI would sell a replacement pump diode to end users who wanted to do repairs themselves----not sure if they will still do that however.

You are better off having CNI repair it but you will have to pay shipping both ways.

Was an expensive emotional frustration outburst move to take it apart when you could have just returned it for repair or replacement.

Good luck.

Sometimes emotions can take you over, as stated it’s happening to me second time. It’s not hard for me to replace C-mount. I did that many times. I have several pumps, including 2W which is there LED now. I can try to do that, however I’m not sure if it will work.
Edit: just found out that 2W pump (another one) is dead too. I will hand it to them, I have no parts to do it myself.

They will repair. I’ll tell how much it will cost later. I’ll ask them to inspect driver too, because that might be a case it died.

Excellent, that’s good news that they will repair your laser for you. I just hope it doesn’t cost too much.
