Hi.. I have this PEN BR build, it is powered with rckstr driver (fixed current version..)

now a recent situation just happened and the diode of it was killed.

(my couzine droped the pen and one of the pins in the PHR diode got broken)

so what i did, was to dismantle everything. since it was a press fit one.. its easy to dismantle it..

but when i look at what is inside its module and its set up.. it looks like this one..

im a bit confused,,, the diode's case pin is soldered to the negative (making it case negative)

now as i look at the driver too.. its negative side is soldered in the aixiz module making the case pin and the negative side of the driver somehow connected..

now my question is.. if i will replace the diode of this set up, can i just make the case pin not used? or should i still connect it to the negative polarity?

no, just mimic the same procedure for blu-ray diodes, for reds, you dont need to cross any pins. because the negative pin IS the case pic on reds

so meaning to say i will just go ahead and do the same thing, im looking at its pins now.. its case pin is connected to the (-) pin soldered to the (-) of the rckstr driver.

This is the one that dark built. I would say just make it the sane way as this one and you'll be ok.

actually this pen is the one you traded with me my cuz.. droped the pen then when i checked and dismanteled it.. one of the pin on the diode is broken.. and its impossible to solder it back.. so im seing 2 pins that are grounded together, im suspecting its the negative one since this is case negative..

question is, do i need to ground the pin again to the negative or i can just leave it alone, since the negative side of the the rckstr driver is already soldered at the aixiz module....

The violet diode is case neutral. That is the crystal itself is electrically "floating." In order to get a case ground, we solder the negative pin to the case pin. This makes the module the negative path. The wire from the bottom of the driver being soldered to the module is not needed. However, it will not hurt anything either. Just re-wire the driver to the diode as you found it and it will work fine

Peace,
dave

Right, it was built by dark. Just follow the advice given here and you'll be ok

thanks arenared.. yeah.. dark and dave is a great help so as the other's who posted their ideas.. hehehe well i just replaced its diode now and its perfectly working. i got lucky with the new diode, it is now at 130mw from the previous of 120mw... im just waiting for some time to buy a 405nm g1 lens.. it will make it more powerful.

the reason I like case positive is it makes a great connection on the battery somtimes if its neg case the plus on the batt has a hard time making a connection but hey different strokes for different strokes
