hello

Hi, First of all you do not look directly into any type of light emissions whether if its a UV flashlight or a laser beam . Even some high power flashlights are very strong not good at all . Remember you have one set of eyes you need to protect them . Enjoy and be safe ..
Rich:)

And looking directly at a uv flashlight can cause eye damage?

Not in the way you are likely thinking. Those UV flashlights aren't going to damage your retinas like a 405nm laser would. They exist only because they cause fluorescent materials to glow.

From what I understand uv flashlight does not damage the retina? And so it is not dangerous?

Maybe if you got a particularly high powered one and stared into it for hours.......

But, no. They are not dangerous.

While not particularly dangerous at low levels. Prolonged exposure to UV rays and UV emitting devices, will damage your vision over time and, may lead to macular degeneration, it can also cause some kinds of cataracts. Hence, uv blocking sunglasses and profesional safety google‘s.
I own a AceBeam X80 and the UV light coming from it is quite strong, The instructions advise not to look directly into the emitting LED’s and I sure don’t. But if you are inclined (I can’t think of a good reason why) Like Paul says, Don’t go about looking at it for hours...And definitely not directly at the LED, not recommended
Cheers!

Can it do a retinal burn that leads to blindness?

We have already answered your question. If you are going to expose your eyes to direct LED UV sources, I will strongly advise you to read this.

Seriously, reading this thread is like seeing someone post.
Is sticking my head in a oven dangerous?
Not if its off.
But what if I turn it on, is it dangerous then?
Not if you only stick your head for a second.
But what if I stick in it for longer????

Do not shine excessive amounts of any light (IR,VIS,UV) into your eyes. Your eyes can only take so much.

I asked because someone pointed a flashlight uv at me for a few seconds so I asked if it was dangerous.

I don’t think you have permanent retina damage. Having said that, I am not a doctor and the information I have given you regarding UV harmful effects is really common knowledge.

My advise is: If you think you eyes have been damaged (unlikely that it is) you should go to an eye specialist and have it seen to.

Cheers.

Not unless someone plunged the host deep into your eye socket. lol

You have 27 posts about eye damage/eye safety with several good answer replies from members, additionally answers to all can be found easily on Google, your questions defy common sense and experience, and all of them question eye safety about devices that there are millions of in use without any negative effects or problems of any kind everywhere in the world and are used routinely millions of times on a daily basis.

Seems that you are either Trolling the forum with idiot level questions for attention, are too lazy to search Google, or you have significant mental problems making you "obsessed" concerning your eyesight even though nothing wrong is detectable by eye MD professionals with your eyes,, or an actual eyesight problem that has not been diagnosed by eye specialist MDs and/or all of the above.

Suggest you see and consult both an MD Ophthalmologist and an MD Psychiatrist and perhaps an MD Neurologist as well to sort your problems out or just keep your eyes closed at all times to be safe.
PS Is easier than keeping your eyes closed when they are open . lol

Holly cow Encap, would you like me to reload that shotgun for you? 😉
This complete and utter mentalist, and even though I had already answered him here, PM’d me a few days ago with the same issue, so have no doubt, he is trolling us.
For once, I am in total agreement with your usual no quarter given.
