Hello everybody,

I'm José and I’m from Portugal.

I’ve always have interest in astronomy, but unfortunately a good Meade or Celestron (Telescopes brands) are very expensive. Despite not owning a telescope yet, I know quite a bit of constellations and stars. And when I have friends visiting, I like to point those in the sky. And using the arm and finger is quite difficult for my friends ‘see’ to where I’m pointing.

Recently I acquire 2 laser pointers, a blue 5W for making experiences, that came with a 301 green laser.

Wowww, how easy it’s now to point to the stars. Those are my first lasers, and I’m quite happy with them.

The blue one was only used a few times, and because they need a very good protection googles I’m waiting for them to arrive. The ones that came with the laser are the cheap ones.

The green one is low power, and very good at pointing to a star or a constellation.

Hope to learn more in here, and pass on anything I know.

Bye for now.

Glad to see that you're aware of the need for safety eyewear!
What type of glasses/goggles did you order?

There are many knowledgable members here who can help you learn.

Hi BowtieGuy,

Thanks for the welcome. :thanks:

Just order a pair of Eagle Pair 190-540nm OD6 Slip Over Laser Safety Goggles from Survivallaser.

I think for my first serious safety googles that don't break your bank account they are quite good.

What do you think ? Or any one with more experience ?

Welcome to LPF, Jose! Please always remember that the 5 Watt laser is extremely dangerous and should never be pointed at any living thing. Have fun, but always be laser safe. Take Care. :D
