Hi And welcome buddy to LPF Ok a laser will not scare a rat the size of a cat. i've seen them that large before we call them warp rats here . I seen them in abandoned beer breweries in my state. I'm talking old brew houses that were shut down and the property's never sold..
My suggestion is a high power .22 or .25caliber single pump air rifle with a 3x9 power weaver scope with cross reticle. Head shot will be more than effective on you critter problem. As for coyote a .22 magnum round will take them with a perfect shot placement to the head, i;ve done this and it's effective results.
Snakes don't scare easy either and coyote thats a large mammal you can forget about a laser on them unless it has the capacity in W;s like a death star.
Well i've been hunting since i was 12 years old and still going out. i took all kinds of game here in the east coast of the USA, from squirrel to black bear Your problem won't be resolved with a laser ..
