I was cleaning out my storage unit a few weeks ago and I opened a box that had an old laser in it that my uncle built back in the early 80's... I remembered him telling my dad as he handed me the laser not to worry and that it wasn't that powerful. Right there at the storage unit my curiosity wanted me to understand the meaning of a "powerful laser," so I Googled "powerful laser" the moment I got back to my house. Of course when you Google anything that has the word laser in it LPF is the first thing that comes up. :bowdown:
I'm not going to lie, if any of my friends knew how many hours I have my head buried in these threads everyday, they would think I have lost my mind
Because I'm new to this wicked amazing hobby that I wish I knew existed like ten years ago I have read every thread and sticky in the Welcome, Rules & Stickies, and General section of the Forum. I really like the vibe most of the members give off. The only thing I didn't really understand is why so many people start threads in the Rules & Stickies section that have DIDDLY SQUAT to do with Rules & Stickies!
I can at least, promise you all, that I am not going to start pointless threads in sections that are irrelevant to the topic. However, I do in fact have a bazillion questions but I'm trying to answer them all on my own by searching my new favorite website. :thanks:
Oh yeah, I forgot. I just remembered I'm supposed to tell you about who I am and what my goals are in regards to why I am here. Well, I have worked for Honda Motor Co. as a manager for over ten years, I work a lot and still go to school on the side. When I have time I love to tinker, and building lasers, well, lets just say that building lasers, is like Lego's for adults! I know how to use a lathe and a milling machine so making a cool host is definitely on the list...
Right now I'm awaiting some parts and going to put together my first laser. I would like to make a bunch of lasers all of differen wave lengths...
One more thing. The very first thing I noticed from every single one of the serious builders was the level of emphasis that is placed on eye protection. I just wanted to give everyone a thumbs up for this, thanks again!
