... thinking back its a shame I don't live in hawaii anymore so I could say "Hi from HI"...

Im very new to laser pointers, particularly high powered ones. The extent of my experience is a number of really, really, really crappy walmart ones and a 10 pack of terrible, but still fun to mess with, laser diodes off of amazon for a grand total of $3.

I probably will not be that active here unfortunately since the only stuff I have planned laser related is a phaser, and possibly a laser cutter some time in the future.

Welcome to the LPF. We have one other member here from Alaska. He is a mod, but is currently working in Qatar. Enjoy your stay and always protect your eyes.

Welcome to the LPF, snek. There are many nice and knowledgeable people here who’ll be happy to listen and to help you whenever possible. Please use the Search button on each page for access to our extensive database for information about all things laser. Our chief concern is about safety, so please remember to always protect yourself and others. Be sure to use proper vision protection and never point a laser at any living thing. Lasers are wonderful and interesting, but please always remember to be laser safe. Take Care. :D

Welcome, what he said, above. If you are in Alaska, you really should like big beam expanders, we do everything big up there.

welcome-there are two search functions at LPF *IF* you have good connection-- the best one is 'google' at the bottom of this page-- the other is higher up and not the best choice-- HOWEVER if your ISP is slow the better one (at least for me--w/ dial=up modem) does not appear.

SAFETY!!!
remember that lasers bounce back- unlike most bullets-- another reason to treat them like loaded guns... or maybe more so!!
