Re: Heatsinks - machined to your specs. Optional h
Just thought I'd let people know about my little accident today.
I was examining the clicky switch on my romisen host with a long canned red [240mW @ 420mA]- felt a little weird. Took it apart to see what it looked like and put it back together.
Screwed it onto the host and without me knowing, the laser was turned on- the lens cap I had on it was black so the dot on the cap was very dim.
Anyways, I came back like 2 or more hours later [however long it takes to drain a 3.7v rechargable from 4.1v to 3.25v @ 420mA] and the host was very hot to the touch.
I thought for sure I had killed the diode because it wasn't lasing. I clicked it off and took out the battery and let it cool off. Put in a fresh battery and it still lased
!
Only now there was a lot of noise on the spot no matter how focused it was. Did a power measurment and it was at 220mW
!
Replaced the lens with a new one and did another power measurement and it was at the original power of 240mW; The spot isn't even deformed at all
!
All in all, these hosts are very high quality and provide an unlimited duty cycle for even high powered red lasers. Blurays & phr's should be no problems.
Not a bad deal for $35 :
