Having trouble focusing Blu-ray

Hi all, I got my Blu-ray working last night, but I can't seem to focus it down. Seems like the smallest I can get the spot is about 8mm. Now it's in an AIxiz housing and the lens has had the opening enlarged inside, where you cut the little hole in the black plastic bigger. Is that would could be causing this? It does this no matter how much current. I have tried it from about 26 mA to about 37. I tried to take a picture but it seems to overexpose and you can't really make out the dot. I have 2 more aixiz housings on the way. Does anyone else have any other ideas.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

try another lens, or try removing lens assembly and looking at the lens yourself... I'm suggesting the lens is the fault, i've seen how easy these plastic lens' can be ruined.

take a picture of the laser projected onto wall without lens, and a picture of the laser with the lens focused to make a dot about 3-4"s wide

this will help us figure out what's the problem.

Seems I need to use a better camera, the webcam i am using just seems to be blinded by the light, can't really make out the dot.  When I remove the lens altogether, I get a large circle with a noticably brighter "band" down the center, but it basically blinded the camera completely.  The pic below is of the dot adjusted to about 3-4 inches as suggested.

All of my bluerays have focused when the lens is around 1/2 to 3/4 of the way into the housing, the difference between big dot/fine dot is a fraction of a turn of the lens. ..... is the window on the LD in place??? I have one where the lens was broken so I removed it, the dot on that one is a lot messier than the others...

I hope that is of some help.

What current are you driving it at, I heard that happens when you don't put enought current in it.

That is certainly what I found with my first blue ray, uped the volts and the yellow went away..

Dang. found out why I was having trouble focusing it. It was in the housing crooked. I left the circuit board on so I couldn't really tell just how crooked it was.

i dont no how to read my meter yet on how to check current here is a pic of my meter and where do i measure current on my driver

Here you go..... don't forget to short the capacitor before connecting the LD. what ever the meter reads in mv is the same number of ma....

Jake set your meter on the 200ma's scale. This means the switch should be pointing to the 200m on the right hand side of your meter. Then separate the wires I have circled in the picture. Run your meter leads to the wires and that will give you your current.
