You can buy some LPC-815 sleds or LPC-826 diodes, They are very cheap
So don't worry about your DVD Diode!

What color was your laser? Even pics would be helpful if you do not have a video.

Hello Greek, is LPC-815 sleds or LPC-826 diodes burning diodes? These are really cheap ,is there any reliable seller from ebay that sell diodes and lens

Yes, the LPC-826 is Burning Diode. I set mine at 470mA and I'm getting 250mW.
