Yes while taking mine apart (DX True 30 ), I noticed quite large amounts of glue inside. I guess once taken apart, there's no way you are ever going to rebuild it. Nor modify it. Most of the parts were glued on, instead of screwed in.

This is the second time, i'm surprised.. Didn't know, there were so many differences between them.

In mine, the only part only held up by glue was the expander lense.

Everything else has threads, to be adjustable, but is of course also glued in place. At first this bothered me, but now i understand, that this is very important, so the parts stay aligned..


The only thing i wish was better are the threads. They should be much finer, but are wide and loose. If they were smaller, the finetuning would really be FINEtuning.. As it is, you can easily glue it, only to notice, it change position, and became misaligned again..


I guess when i glue mine back together, i will have to power it on, before the glue sets, and again align it for the best power..

I believe glue is used to allow the crystals/components to be aligned into the "sweet spot" of the LD/beamshaper's output. This allows for the use of LDs from different manufacturer and for variances in LDs.
 
In mine, the crystals and the pump diode are held in with a nut, and adjustable by turning. The glue only keeps them in place, once the sweet spot is found, so they don't get misaligned by the smallest shock.

In the DX200, there is only one component, that is held in place by only by glue - the expander lens.. And i really don't understand, why they couldn't give it a threads, and a mount, so it would be adjustable..


Also, the threads should be a lot smaller.. As it is, fine tuning isn't really all that fine, and when i find the best spot, and glue everything back, i will have to power it on again, and check the alignment..
