Green laser's used in riots greece

Re: Green laser's used in riots greese

... and here is the picture:

PhotoBlog - Greek rioters use lasers against riot police in Athen protests

I think its very considerate of those rioters to defocus the thing to MPE safe levels :D

Seriously though, i don't think the lasers will receive much attention in this whole ordeal. People are taking to streets with sticks, shovels, axes and throw molotov cocktains and rocks at the riot police there too. I suppose the police do more eye damage with their teargas that those few guys with lasers at wide focus... although they may turn to narrow if they mean to do harm.

Re: Green laser's used in riots greese

rookies, where are the 445s?

Re: Green laser's used in riots greese

It does not look like defocused ..it's too uniform .. IMHO it's motion blur. Also on the left side you can see as the beam 'slices' the smoke.
In which case it's intent to harm .. if it was in US, they would be some shooting involved I'm sure.

Yep .. no beams .. but imagine someone shining 400mW green .. or 1.5W blue .. that could take some government down !

LOL, I think using a laser of that power there would be supremely retarded... What with the beam clearly showing there it's originating from.

A diffuse red @200mW would have looked interesting though.

As for the cops.. I think they have enough common sense to realize that a molotov cocktail will no a lot more damage than a beam of light... even a 1.5W beam of light.

I'm not sure if its unfocissed or motion blur in the picture - hard to tell when you weren't there i suppose.

As for how police react to lasers: At the moment i don't think they would be all that much provoked, but that can readily change if someone manages to blind a policeman using a laser. With the powerful 445's i think that would be feasible from distance away, and with dpps lasers and beam expanders even from distances so far away they are out of reach of handguns.

I don't think lasers will be a weapon of choice for rioters anytime soon though - those confrontations typically take place in close proximity where something like a shovel is just far more effective.

Giving away the origin isn't that much of a concern i suppose: most cities are equiped with loads of cctv camera's, so they can just as easily identify someone that threw a rock or molotov cocktail.

Because i live in Greece i can tell you what was happening. As you know Greece is in a very bad economical crysys ! And people that were workless were outside and were calling the ministers thiefs ! But some masked man went out also and the things turned very bad ! Now about the hotel. At this hotel all the journalists and all the TV cameras were at these balconys sο they were pointing their lasers at the cameras so that the TV channels wouldnt have anything to show !!!!

^^^Good thing the mod didn't include anyone who actually knows about lasers... an IR laser would do the trick perfectly:)

Retarded people are seriously starting to piss me off when it comes to lasers.

Last night I was at a rooftop party... can someone please explain to me why morons think it might be fun to stick their hand through the beam of a laser?

Luckily it was a momentary on laser so nothing happened, but annoying. Same retard also catches up to me later and starts asking me "will it hurt if i point it at someone".

People like him are the reason we're gonna have problems soon.
