I only edited my post because I asked about the output voltage, but then I read it in your initial post... Looks like a good deal if shipping is low. Now all we need is a cheap source of IR diodes. Around 5 dollars. Best bet would be the diodes from stonetek.

The charts I've been seeing indicate 100mA juice corresponds to about 100mW of power.  At 5 V, that's 20%, but if the numbers are off by a little bit (e.g. 5.5 V, 125mA -> 100mW), that's still 15%, which is a lot higher than a DPSS green laser.

Apparently I've been misreading the first post. This is a simple current regulator that most likely takes a 3 V input (the input isn't actually stated), and outputs up to 1.5 V, 330 mA.  It's not a step-up converter from 1.5 V to some higher voltage (like 5.5 V) as I and others have hoped.  However, this is a very reasonably priced option for obtaining a regulator for IR diodes.

Hell, you mean a blu-ray laser! It´s freakin violet! Marketing win I guess...
That is no suprise it is more efficient, because it is a Laser diode! The un-efficient thing in the green lasers is the frequency convertion from 808 to 532, but compared to 473 and 593.5 it is quite efficient!

Doesn't 405nm = 473 nm? :P

I knew the frequency conversion crystal took a hit on the efficiency; I just didn't realize that the crystal itself was so inefficient.

Not quite ::) ;) I think it is about 20-30 % in the best cases with green, and around 3% with blue? someone please confirm that.

yeah thats a good ballpark but it can be more or less depending on the crystals and their quality and also their alignment
