so, i am a big fan of making things out of altoids tins and i decided to make this 2 in 1 green laser with red laser, it will run on 2 sets of AAA batteries, and the lasers can be run 1 at a time or simultaneously

(the bottom view is the closed view and the top is the closed, oh and the green things are the batteries)
(if anyone has any other good ideas, please say so)

So you're planning on getting two laser modules, 1 green and 1 red, right?

ya, i was gonna get them from dx, and i was thinking about putting a 100 mw dvd writer diode in the red diodes casing and the green module is only 5 mw, unless there is a stronger one that i can buy somewhere else

If you're going to be putting a dvd diode in there you're going to need a driver for it, which means you'll need more than 2 AAs to power the diode, or if you can't fit more batteries you can always put a capacitor and a resistor, it won't be as good as a driver but it'll be better than connecting the diode straight to the batteries.

thanks for that information, i will only put in a dvd diode in it i can find a dvd writer

thanks for that great tip! those diodes look a lot better than a lousy 5 mw diode ;D

does anyone know where i could get a green laser housing (like the ones that senkat or stonetec sold i believe, except green and not red)

ya i saw that, but i was wondering if there was a more powerful one...

oh and senkats diodes, the red ones, that are in the housings, they just need to be hooked up to a power source.... is that all

i would take apart a DX laser like a DX30 and take out the module from it and that would be sweet

Why would you want to stick with a 5mW one, where's the fun in that? :-?
