I just got my X-125 in the mail today, the specs on the box are; 146.2 peak and 139.3 average ;D . When I read that I got very excited. I can't try and burn anything until I get my safety glasses which are out of stock right now :'( . So heres the question to other owners of an X-125 or equivalent, how bright is your beam in a lit room? I really expected a fairly solid green line, and its fairly faint in modest lighting. It's not a huge deal I just want to make sure nothings wrong, it's my first laser and I'm a bit paranoid.

Hehe, well the dots bright as hell isnt it? hard to judge beam in daylight because beam visibility will vary with the amount of dust and suspended particles in the air, humidity, etc. try inside where theres more potential on a clear sunny day to actually see it, but dont catch any reflections, or wait for the goggles

Re: Got my X-125, question for other owners though

You would do best using it outside at night. 130mw lasers really aren't safe to point around the house without goggles.

139, lets not sell my baby short ;D ... I figured as much, I've been shining it around corners and at black objects to get a feel for it. I really want to goggles to see how coherent the dot is.

YEah, outside at night should look like you attached a bright green yarn to a star and are pulling tightly on it. In the daytime it can be hard to see the beam except form a certain angle. And at night inside, the dot will brighten up the room so much that the beam still isn't that bright. So best outside.

Ok thats reassuring. I really hope nova gets there sport glasses back in stock soon. Even mat black objects , I figured black speaker foam would absorb a lot of the light, light up like a green fireball.

look. if i can see a bright awesome beam with a dx 30, you should be able to burn stars with a x-125, use it at night as our fellows told u :P

Cbrian4, your the perfect person for me to ask, do fluorescent lights kill the visibility of your beam?

Re: Got my X-125, question for other owners though

i would imagine so, but i don't have fluorescent bulbs in my house. In my house the beam is fairly visible when the lights are on, and when they are off its a lightsaber! fluorescent bulbs produce a lot of light so your lasers fine. Can you light matches easily?

Re: Got my X-125, question for other owners though

This is my first laser, so I'm not really sure what easily is. The matches I have handy are blue headed, wood, BBQ matches. I can light one in about ten seconds at no more then three inches. At two feet I can hold my hand in front of the beam all day. I really think there might be something wrong.

Try new batteries. Your X125 will eat through alkaline AAA's in less than 5 minutes. Pick up some eneloop rechargeable AAA batteries, they last longer than 5 minutes in your laser.
