Got a new ion laser

Yeah, switchers, when they let go, its like somebody set off an M-100 firecracker inside a pinata *inside* a box. I had a reliant argon multiline that ate itself violently about ten years ago. The big caps went apart and fairly evenly distributed all the foil, Mylar and electrolyte in an even layer all over the insides of the head. Plenty of carbon tracking all over since the foil managed to contact other live parts on the circuit board resulting in secondary rounds of violence of an electrical nature. I managed to salvage the tube, the top fan, and the key. Everything else was trashed.

Damn that was a cascade failure :eek: The smell must have been around for awhile. Glad you are OK other than your tidy whiteys :p Can't wait for more videos :pop:
 
amazing laser, Laser physics makes some awesome units, I have a reliant 50 and it is very nice, but its a 488nm.
First time I see a reliant 300 white light laser... I think that it has to be Very rare.

Congratulations.
 
I only have one word - and yes I have had one of the 50mW 488nm Reliants. Started first click, every time. Oh that one word? *drool*

Nice laser - and nice setup - yup its a keeper :)
 
hey, I have a few new vids of my lasers on Yooutube. I also managed to buy a reliant 1000M for a couple hundred that needed repair. I repaired it and it works like new, very high power, maybe close to a watt. I havnt measured the output power yet tho. I like these two, side by side. =)
 
Thinking of making an argion for my sister. She seems to like light blue.
