Good 1w+ 445nm Handheld Laser

I sold it shortly after. The Arctic is cool looking, and all, but its not what I was looking for. To big an bulky, and didnt focus easily.

Then I won this laser in a raffle, and I have to say the quality is second to none. I love it, and it burns like a mad man.

But I still LOOVE DTR's 2w 26650 host (MCU-C88 Q5). For the price, its quite expensive but 2w of power can't let you down either. The dials in the front make the body look awesome!

But honestly, a 1w laser is more than enough for me. Any higher and it's just unnecessary and pricey.

You do also realise the Arctic is like 5 years old so you gotta give the benefit of the doubt that at its time it was one of the best lasers around, maybe not so much now since other manufacturers started producing 1w + lasers and many people on this forum. That said, its still cool (at least for me) :P

I just want the cool factor ;)

The arctics are NOT 5 years old. The projectors the diodes are from were only 'introduced' in the beginning of 2010, and didn't start shipping until a month or two later. The arctic has only been on the market for a little over a year.. and most of that time, you waited months to get one because they started selling them before they'd actually made many. And even then, the idea wasn't original to WL.. The source of the diodes was discovered in the hobbyist community and people were building lasers with them here well before WL decided to take the idea and run with it.

I thought the arctic was like in the Guinness world records as the "most powerful handheld laser" back in 2007? Well, that is what I saw on WL's website. I don't know about how long the diode or components are and when it was introduced to the market, but the initial idea is very old now.

You believe claims made by a chinese mass market laser seller? Heh.

WL isn't 'on the forefront' of laser development and research. The only thing special about WL is they have their own hosts made.. But otherwise they're no different than any other chinese laser manufacturer. They take modules, diodes, drivers that other people make and stuff them in tubes. WL's tubes are just a little fancier than everyone elses. That's about all that sets them apart. Their quality and customer service isn't any improved over any other mass market chinese laser manufacturer.

Noooo, that was either the hulk, or hurk IIRC. And they were green lasers. There were no 445nm "diode" lasers till last year.
