For a couple months now I've been wanting to get myself a 405nm laser. So, a couple weeks ago I finally ordered a 1W 405nm module from DTR. I've had this host laying around for a while now and wanted to put it to good use, so I decided to build the 405nm module in it.
The build wasn't too hard, although I did have to make a contact board fit the host.
Let's get to the pictures.
This is everything that went into the build:
It might be hard to see, but I soldered the V- to the unused pin of the diode and the V+ I soldered to the back of the contact board.
Close up of the contact board:
Focus knob with a GITD o-ring in it:
Finished laser:
Last but not least, a few beamshots:
I'm quite satisfied with the finished build. It has a pretty decent duty cycle and the lens keeps glowing for a while after use thanks to the o-rings. If I were to ever do a similar build again in this particular host, I'd figure out a better way of making a contact board.
Thanks for reading!
