That's what I thought for 10 dollars. Maybe when I win lotto I'll buy more 60 dollar ones. For now, I just won't demo it with anything that could hurt someones eye.
What do most people use their's for, and what don't they use them for? Indoor dot/beam viewing, outdoor dot/beam viewing, burning, star pointing, etc?
well so far we managed to mark all of our stuff with our initials I wrote some stuff on the clouds (we don't have these things called stars here with all the light pollution from the city) ...uhh haven't done much with it yet... When I had a good greenie I lit matches popped balloons all that jazz but I also made some cool light shows with it too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ya2bGAkSIQg managed to burn some wood... did I mention freak out my neighbors?
I was wondering how you can write stuff with a laser pointer, does the beam take long enough to get there that you still see it when you move the laser pointer, or how does that work? I want to try doing some of the light shows too, the kit I want to get comes with a bunch of stuff for doing that. How powerful was your laser that you burnt wood with?
the writing thing is either long exposure with a camera or it's just moving so fast you can see the trail from the dot in my case I was just moving it as fast as I could to write some things on the clouds...I'm not quite sure how I can explain the "trail" from the dot but you can see an after image after shining it on something (not sure if thats good for my eyes though)
Okay, it is finally ordered an on it's way. They sent me an email saying they saw a bunch of declined transactions and they must have done something because it went through tonight. I decided to hold off on the kit because I found out that there was a misunderstanding in email about the light years, and you cannot redeem and earn them on the same purchase, and I don't have any yet so... Plus I might do an experimental write up and review combination type thing in video form, and earn some light years from that.
