Nuclear deterrents are necessary to prevent nuclear weapons use against your nation, but the future warfare will become more and more mechanized/autonomous and we had dam well better be ahead of the curve.

America has always been protected by distance and having allies to our North and South, but with the advent of bio-warfare becoming practical we could see engineered disease used against masses anywhere on Earth, a pathogen with a pre enginered replication limit ( a self terminating virus with a high mortality rate ) although you never know how something like that could mutate, so I expect vaccine strains would be developed in advance.

No matter what the future holds, because people around the world have different belief systems and national loyalty, we do need to keep a strong military ability and that means keeping the technological leed, which means raising humans with core values that enable a healthy productive life, we are failing.

We have outsourced way too much, that said humanity could advance faster if we work together globally, but we either have to do away with all religions, or all become the same religion globally, either would take generations and again, I am more concerned with the next couple decades.
 
I suppose the big question is..... Is it ok too want our people to win ?
Is it ok to want Americans to have a better quality of life at the expense of others around the world not living as well ?

Well that's how it works and you better believe the Chinese want a better life if it means we all curl up and die.

The rest of the world would leave us behind in a heartbeat...... it's like the liberals who don't eat meat thinking we can live with the animals...... yea, try that with an apex predator.
 
Our medications, electronics, raw materials are mostly made overseas, it's not only dangerous but debilitating, we have gone from owning the world to being owned by it.

Trump is correct to advance America 1st, we have 18 Trillion in foreign debt...... if we don't get it under control now, we won't be able to make our own decision to fix the problem.

A global society where we are all equal is a beautiful pipe dream, but it will never work that way, at least not in our lifetimes and that's what we should be most concerned with, how well Americans will live, thankfully Trump is on the job.

You gotta be kidding. Where in the world would you get new states from if Texas ceded from the union? You think other states that exist here would join you, or that this country would allow that. Remember the Civil War? Also, you would force your concept of religion on others? Good luck with all of that.

There really is no such thing as foreign debt! That's like saying that because I spend money at my grocery store, but they don't spend money with me that is a deficit. That's nonsense. It is and has been a global economy.

Again, there is no real foreign debt. If I buy my diamond ring ftrom a jewler, but they don't spend money on me that doesn't mean there is a defcit. You can use any number of equally cogent comparisons, but the end result is the same.

It sounds like you are confusing Balance of trade with Foreign debt. Balance of trade is the difference between Imports and Exports. The 18 Trillion Dollars the US owes the rest off the World is for Cash Loans to keep the US Economy afloat. Your Gov keeps borrowing money because they spend more than the income from Taxes etc. Technically the US has been Bankrupt for many years. The Cash Loans is to keep the country running.

I wouldn't even think of Texas secedeing from the union under the Trump administration, but under a future democrat admin with democrat congress, if they ever packed the SCOTUS....YES ! That or hold a Convention of States.

Foreign nations who we call friends put tariffs on our products, on our beef to protect their local industry or they make up BS reasons to block our products....... why on Earth shouldn't we do the same ?

Already other nations are offering Trump a zero-for-zero tariff deal both ways, already Trumps tariffs are working to level the field for our companies.

The numbers Trump has cited are made up. Most economists have no idea where they come from. Trump is either stupid or a liar. I suspect it's both.
