I am a Canada/El Salvador dual citizen, and years ago when I would tell people where I was from, sadly the one thing that came to people's mind was the horrible gang MS-13. Now when I say I am from El Salvador, the first thing that people think of is "Oh, the country with the Mega Prison".

I don't think there'd be any danger to me, I have no criminal record, my family came here legally, and I have since become a citizen.



I would really like to visit El Salvador though, I was born there in 1988 during the war and left when I was too young to remember anything about it.



So glad we finally have a great leader like Nayib Bukele who has cleared out all the criminals and it is now finally safe enough. I am very seriously considering a trip back in the near future.
