These will only be on sale til Wed.

Saw this at Fred's surplusshed- anybody want to go in on some of these???Single sale price $35 with half off+17.50 plus shipping. Might make a nice adjustable Beam Expander- If enough are interested I will look into a GB on these and see if some mounts can be made for us to attach to pointers/handhelds-PL-Cs etc. sale price is good for two maor days only. PM me if you want to consider. I think at least we could save on shipping .GB style.

There are closed for the night, so I will contact SS and see what the ID of the rear is and if we can get a GB break.

IIRC shipping for this would be $5 to CONUS so one at a time will cost $22.50-(only for two more days)
Price delivered before the sale was $54.
from Fred--Our regular great price was $49.00. Closing out at an incredible price!
Our Closeout price: $34.50, SALE $17.25

looks like some lasers may be usable with the mount it comes with... I see four holes for adjustment /attachment screws- same as some BEs. See View #3.

COMPUTAR MEDIUM FORMAT 105-150MM ZOOM LENS f/4.5-5.6 - Surplus Shed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We just purchased a good quantity of these. They have been taken out of a medium format portrait camera and are in great condition. High quality Computar zoom lens, 105mm to 150mm, f/4.5 to f/5.6. All elements are AR Coated optics with front element multi-coated. Includes threaded front lens shade and cover. Front clear lens diameter is 50mm and rear clear lens diameter is 30mm. Barrel is 70mm diameter, Front lens shade is 85mm diameter. It is Rare to find a medium format zoom lens and when you find one they are usually very expensive. At 150mm the lens appears to cover more than a 4" x 5" format.
In addition to use as a camera lens, they make a great objective for a compact zoom telescope. They also make a nice zoom enlarger lens, telephoto camera attachment, finder scope, etc. We believe they can be used as an adjustable laser beam expander.
We have a decent quantity so if you want to incorporate these into a product, we can give you a quantity discount.
Closing out at an incredible price!

SOOOOOOOOO If I can get and reship to you -- would want one or more if I can ship to you for $21. PM asap.

I will try to get the ID of the back.

Well two is a start--asap I will post here the ID of the back. looks like a maybe fit for PL-C type handhelds.(~37mm) the back element is 30mm.

the physical store is in Fleetwood, PA 19522 --anybody out there --near there? MM ??

I just got off the phone w/ the owner of SShed-Unfourtunetly there is no additional GB discount available as the current sale is already 50% off. I may take a chance and order more than one, but, at least one to see how well it works w/ my PL-Cs- Guidesman and Blue Hot Lights, etc hosts. I will try it out on lab lasers too.
The ID of the back is around 41mm so it is large enough to fit most all builds. An adaptor could be made that allows this zoom lens to be fixed in place with four set screws.
I have gotten a few PMs from interested parties. I will post pics of this lens and find out approx. the cost to have adaptors made that will work with several builds. Like anything else, the price of these adaptors should go down if the amount made goes up.

After Wed. The price at SShed goes back up to 35$ each plus $5 to ship. But even at that price, having a BE that is adjustable is a very low price compared to the current cost of BEs sounds good to me.

Most are over $100 afaik.

So, its looking like doing this as a GB is not going to happen. And until one of us gets one and tries it out we dont know how well it will work. Those who may still want one should subscribe to this thread as when I get one I will be testing and posting results and Pics here. I may be able to offer them with an adaptor and shipped for under the non-sale price.($40- Reg. price w/ shipping was $54) It sounds like a nice optic to have considering the price and the ability to change the expansion factor with a simple turn.
When ordering anything from SurplusShed always mention LPF. They are aware of the links that many have posted at LPF and told me to tell everyone thanks for doing that.

Its refreshing to be able to chat via thier toll free # and they always respond to questions quickly whether its a e-message or a phonecall. I highly recommend signing up for the SShed newsletter. I had at one time a VIP membership($49/yr-iirc) you will get a 10% discount on anything you order so if you buy enough items the VIP pays off. Anyone living close to Fleetwood Pa can shop at the Shed in person.

The webstore is easy to use . When you do a search for an item you usually get many to choose from. They take all the usual forms of payment. They have a wish list so if an item you are seeking they let you know it is now available. Thier shipping is more than reasonable. One price, no matter how many or how heavy-$5.

Tell em Hakzaw sent ya!!!

lase safe

What about the newish hosts? I'm interested in this.

I am not a lathemaster but I KNOW SOME. I will find out the cost to make adapters that will work with each type/size of host. Jetlasers offers one to go with thier 3X($130) and 5X($150) and 10X (coming soon iirc $190)
Your get choice of PL-C type or for the JetL Ti pens. The BE screws onto the adapter and four allen screws attach the adapter to the respective lasers.

. The lens I have coming from SShed is ATM afaik not threaded but in the pics you can see four holes ready to use. I will post here how the two JetL BEs compare with the SShed zoom lens. posting pics of them -delivery is expected 5/5.

WELL........ the zoom lens arrived and I am not so sure that it would make a great BE.
For one thing it quite large- imagine a lens the size of a soda can attached to the front of your laser. And even after you get a ring approx-3mm in thickness to fill the 6mm gap you would IMO have a hard time keeping it centered properly.

I may still get one made but unless several want me to buy them one of these zoom lenses at the sale price I am not going to buy a bunch of them. I would need at least 30$ per lens(w/o an adapter)

Here is copypasta of a PM I sent to an interested party. Afiak he is going with the $130 JETL 3X w/ pl-c adapter(threaded and fits perfect and stays very centered.)

It's here and its beer can size. Not suitable for pointers or Ti pens and knida big for a PL-C . the rear element is recessed ~10mm.

the ID is 42.7mm while the OD of the PL-C is 36.1 mm. I thought it had 4 threaded holes but there are only two. two more could be easily added.

so im guessing that a ring needs to be made that fills the gap and has matching holes for the allen screws. it so big (& heavy) one would need to hold it with both hands.

so I held it on my 532/250 and at 5 M the 'spot' was ~3 inches and after extending the zoom lens about the same~5 inches. not much 'zooming' going on there. the spot is somewhat fuzzy around the edges and if not held there exactly centered- a lot of flaring is seen. this lens is coated( the coating is blue) i will post pics in my feeler thread- in GBs board.

Let me know if you want one- I can only get a few moar at that price and for a limited time only- (maybe two weeks tops)

Bought one as well not arrived yet obviously (Greenland), to bad you don't send overseas, would like an adapter if one are made, I just have to wait and see now, would like it to fit, my hopefully soon to arrive, lasers from Jetlasers :D

If I get adaptors made I will PM you and be glad to ship you one at my cost. Let me know if you want more pics -showing what I have not. The beam and spot shots are not much to look at.-- I think a homemade one may even work better. plus by simpling de-focusing any PL-C you can get a very large spot at distance. Maybe that is not the same thing that a BE does but it sure looks like it to me. Optics are not something that I know a lot about---sorry.
