Game: Guess the mystery object !

Ok, let's try with something a little more difficult than my previous ones :eg:

Hahaha, sure to be somewhat difficult to guess, the photo is small, dark and of poor quality, almost nothing is visible here in my screen :p

It is part of a machine, or a complete device, tool, etc?
 
I know, unfortunately my actual webcam is a bit "crappy" :p

Some helps, then .....

..... it's a part, but is really difficult that you have seen it, if you have not dismantled the item that have it inside ..... also, anyone of you have one of them (probably also more), but 99% you never know that you have it ..... also, it does not have any moving parts, nor it moves itself, but it permit to something other to move in and out from something, blocking all the rest ..... and can have lots of different shapes, too (too much helps, i know ..... :eg: :eg: :eg:)

I'm going to bed now, so if someone want and this is too difficult, feel free to post something other ..... if none guess for tomorrow, i will say what is this one ;) (but, with all those helps, how can you not guess, now ? ..... :p :D)
 
some kind of clutch?

the middle looks like a brake material, but certainly I have never seen this piece, or I would remember of this.

It looks metallic, and its dimensions?
 
It would be helpful if mystery object is pictured against something of well known dimensions, so at least we get some clue how big it is.

Is this object has anything to do with power grid.

You said that we all have it so it is not part of a car, even though it remind us of of such.
 
Heh, finally perhaps i've found one difficult to guess :eg:

Plastic, not metal ..... nothing to do with brakes (also if it stop things :p) ..... nothing to do with power grids (nor with any other type of energy control ;)) ..... nothing to do with cars ..... the round part is 24mm external diameter, and the hole in the middle is less than 1mm (this for give dimensional scale ;)) ..... as i've said, all you have at least one (maybe more), but 99% of you never seen it, nor know that it exist (and this is the funny part :eg:) ..... Also, the shape is not relevant, other models are just round, or rectangular, or squared ;)

Too much helps ..... i'm too good, i know :eg:
 
Ok, ok, one more big help ..... it's usually inside computers (very inside), but not all the times ..... :p :D
 
I am perplexed hahaha, inside computers? this computer are very special or very old,
because I spent years assembling my own computers, piece by piece and I've never seen anything like this :confused:

Inside of what? CD-ROM, DVD, floppy drive, fans, old computer tape drives :thinking:

Edit: Ok, now I have no time, later I try to figure out what piece can be, if someone does not do so before.

Is it the "bottom" of a fan? the bit thats usually hidden by a sticker?
 
@piferal: it's inside all the computers, regardless if old or new ones ..... but you will NEVER see them, ASSEMBLING computers (for the other side, instead, you can see them DISMANTLING computers ..... also, the fact that this part is always inside a PC, but you can have it also outside the PC, does not suggest you something ? ..... ;))


@ped: no, nothing to do with fans, also it does not move in any way ;)

No, sorry.

Another help (big help :p) ..... it's part of any hard disks, but not part of any MECHANISM (oh, come on, there's only one part inside hard disks that is not part of mechanic nor electric elements, so now it's too easy :p :D)
 
Is the filter in the hard disk, to allow air pressure compensation, and this not allow to enter any impurity?
