Game: Guess the mystery object !

Nope. It contains mercury and a little argon. They still make these lamps- by hand, mind you- and they have a very specific purpose.
 





These lamps are for streetlamp post #2,390 on I-40 Westbound. They don't fit any other streetlights. :eg:

Maybe it is for a source of a particular wavelength? First electronic camera flash evar?
 
Yep. I bought one thinking I could use it for EPROM erasing, but only to find out that they don't put out quite enough UV.

It is the distinct "color" of silver. Somehow that was going to be my guess too, even though I usually start off with ridiculous guesses.

Although, it could also be wadded up candy bar wrappers that went through thw wash a few too many times, or a miscellaneous collection of pocket lint.

Google silver nuggets, images, and you won't have to scroll down to see it. Usually people post pictures they took themselves, or at least dig a little deeper into google than that.
