New hint: its a type of clutch. Used in a lot of machinery as well.

Yup. Or better known as a sprag clutch. This is one out of my 4 speed lenco CS1 with the large sprags. These things are massive!!! But have to hold 3000hp so its understandable.

Its BIG and very heavy.
its used for science (quite obvious right?)
the pictures show where the real funstuff happens
its something you dont find very often.
it is located rather close to me.

it is infact a laser, so it fits realy good in here.
but it is a more than 30 million euro expensive laser cappable of 400mw of averege power
and 1-3 gw of peakpower

I was thinking it was a LINAC of some kind but a FEL would work as well.

it is a FEL, Free electron laser with wave lenghts of about 4.5-48nm.
its called Flash.
