Fun with China shipping & the post office

I am waiting for a package from China. Last tracking info shows it went through the sort facility in LA Cal on 3-21. No other movement shown.
I called the post office to see if I could get any info. They said “that is not a tracking number. It is a customs number. We have no way of tracking your package.”
I said “I am looking at the UNITED STATES POST OFFICE web site and in big letters it says TRACKING NUMBER and shows where it is.”
“That is not a tracking number. We have no way to track your package. You need to contact the shipper and tell them you did not receive it.”
“I did contact the shipper. They gave me the tracking number and it shows it is in LA.
They obviously shipped it and it is in the US because the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE says it is.”
“We have no way of tracking your package. You need to contact the shipper and tell them you did not receive it.”
“I did contact them. They are not responsible because they shipped it and it is in the US.”
This was repeated 3 or 4 times.
Somewhere there is a package. Nobody knows where. Nobody is responsible.

I've had nothing but problems with my current Post Office too, really annoying when everything in the laser hobby is shipped that way, So I feel you man, haha
