FS: White Fusion Laser Mixing Kit

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

Nice! That must be a WHITE HOT beam!

Looking forward to your uptdate...

Niko, for sure the day will come for me to bump it up some more. But in view of the current cost, I'm probably going to be happy with mine for a while.

I already had the 6X in a baggie. It's a really nice longer wavelength 6X that was my personal Pocket Mini. But I took it out when I build my 8X Pocket Mini.

Believe me... 358mW's is plenty! (for now anyway) :D

About power/color blend, it's going to be trial and error. At this kind of power, there can be some leeway and still have a very nice color blend.

Everybody please keep good records on power measurement per laser after sled optics, and SHARE! This way we can really have some good reference numbers...
Jay

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

I also have an 8X in mine with the little red from the same sled. my Green was a 150 but I'm trying a 50mw in my rebuild. If I wasn't building these kit parts I would have it redone by now :) your right Jay it is hot and no respector of color. I burned a hole in my white rubber gloves I use when working with optics. cought me by suprize...my hand was in there :lasergun:

sightfx, have you thought about the complete build option?

I will but not any time soon. I stay away from dealing in sensitive electronics for the most part. Not that it intimidates me I actualy have a degree in the subject. It's the end users that scare me :). I will be working on a shock resistant enclosure mounting system next and then a single source driver board with modulation that all fits the pocket sized box. Once all that is done than sure I will make them to sell.

One thing I do need to get for mine is an IR filter on the Green. Anyone have a good source for them? I'm sure quality will verry so if more IR blockage means losing some green I would say that is just fine. We turn the green down anyway.

Thanks,

Ryan

Nova sells some nice little IR filters:
Infra-red Filter - Optics - Novalasers Inc.

They are kind of expensive... $10 bucks each plus shipping. But they are good filters, and can be fit in small areas too.

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

Did you get a job, Niko?

:na:

Peace,
dave

Engineering leaves me with no time to get a full time job, so I started selling laser products here in Argentina about a year ago. So far it's been going great (too bad now I'm having problems with 40 batteries I got from DX, they get discharged in less than 10 minutes...) and I'm sure I'll have clients interested in 7 colour pocket lasers :)
Also, now that I have a discal hernia I literally can't do anything but stay all day sitting on a chair or trying to sleep (pain doesn't let me, I sleep like 3 hours a day, YAY).

Somebody shoot me, please...:cryyy:

EDIT: Also, I'd build it myself, it's just that with various shipping fees it'll turn out being more expensive than having someone in the US doing it for me.

Sure Niko kill my thread with your sorrows...J/K I'm sorry to hear of your pain.

This is realy a shameless excuse to bump my thread. Pain is no joke though. I hope some humor makes it a bit more bareable.

I have a prototype shock resistant mount so now I need to put a build together and try test it a bit. I will need to but together a phr level build and drop it from around 10 times at 4' - 6' before I call it shock resistant.

I will be ordering in some more clear cases for the enclosure so I would expect it to take another 2 weeks or so before there would be a release model for purchase outside the US and a near plug and play kit for inside the US.

Thanks,

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

Hey sightfx I got my kit a few days ago and noticed the prototype shock absorber/mounting thing. It looks great! I can't wait for my diodes to get here!!

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

Glad you like it. I figure all you have to do is glue/epoxy that to the lid of your enclosure box and drill a hole in the lid so the hex key can get to the bolt. The rest of the enclosure is realy the cover at that point. That seems to be the best way to build these things into an enclosure so you can get to everything once secured to it.

I will have pics added to the top in a day or so so that everyone can see what we are talking about.

Would the turning mirror reflect the IR? It is coated to reflect 780nm so I would imagine that it might also be able to reflect 808nm and 1064nm.
