FS: Stainless Steel 18650 Kit! Polished! Perfect for 445...

With an X-Drive, you will need to use 2 X Li-Ion cells for the supply. So in this host, you can use 2 X RCR123 batteries. I would recommend these ones:
AW RCR123a Protected 750 mAh Battery

Your going to have approximately 30 minutes between charges...

For larger capacity/larger heatsink, etc... Check out my Mag kit:

Wow 2 watts in this little host would be cool but what would the duty cycle and life of the diode be like?

Yes you can have 2 Watts with a high efficiency diode, but your battery capacity will not be very much at that much current...

You may possibly even need IMR cells depending on what driver you have.

For duty, people push these diodes, but I always recommend 1 minute duty as a good habit (rule of thumb) to try to get used to in a small (smaller) build...

Can this build be done as a 405nm build? Was planning on getting module from DTR. I have a question though you list G-1 lens but he lists a G-2 lens is the G-2 the latest iteration? What would be the maximum power that you would recommend for this unit as far as heat goes for it's size and also what is the max someone would want to use with a single 18650 battery? Sorry for all the questions only started reading this stuff a couple of days ago other forum members feel free to fill me in as well. It will be my first build. I have a FireDragon III on the way in the mail, but I am starting to regret ordering a product from China. But I am familiar with electronics took a specialty class in high school for two years at college level. You look like you have some great stuff JayRob keep up the good work. Also yes I have laser glasses. But will have to buy some for this for that particular wavelength. What did Santa Claus say to the little boy in It's A Good Life: "Kid your gonna burn your eye out" "But I wanna Red Rider Laser"

The lenses are basically the same but just different mounting. My assembly is more time involved in making the assembly:

The host is great for a 405 build. With a 12X, you can probably set it at 500mA's and be fine, but I normally recommend a little more conservative for better longevity. Like 450mA's.

It would still be a class 4 laser. (over 500mW's)

Yes, proper safety glasses are important...
