FS: MXDL Host & Heatsink Combo! (4171 or 3405)

Those are some great deals you have on those Dave!

I'm sure they won't last very long at all...

Get one of Dave's pre-mounted diode/module/driver deals, and one of my host/heatsink combo's, and you'll have yourself a jaydag build!

Thanks, Jayrob. I received the host/heatsink combo thursday. Now all I need is batteries. I was going to ask how you got the heatsink in the host or how I would get it out to do the set screw but the module fit perfectly snug so I'm not going to even worry about the set screw at this point. Thanks, again.

You will want to use the set screw to make sure your module stays put...

And it will press the module tight against the heatsink for better heat transfer as well.

There is a final retaining ring at the very front of the host that unscrews. This is what holds the heatsink in the head.

You will need a 1.5mm Allen wrench for the set screw.

hmm id like to buy the 4171 with the HOT opinion and the glass lense mod for blu-ray
so i only have to buy the diode in a module or ??
and batteries

/edit no lens and can i use a diode with 250mW ?
/edit this wil easily burn things, wont it?

Yes, even a PHR will burn very well!

The diode/lens/current will make the difference in how much burning power it will have.

Best to start out with a PHR because they are very cheap, and you don't need the glass lens with a PHR.

You can get them pre-mounted in AixiZ modules from several people here on LPF.

Modwerx.com
HighTechDealZ.com

To mention a couple...

But yes, with the 'Hot' option, all you need is your diode pressed into an AixiZ module. And then you will have to be able to solder your diode pins with lead wires to connect to my lead wires from the driver. (or you could solder my lead wires directly to your diode pins)

Just send me a PM when your ready! :)

Thanks jayrob got my MXDL 4171 and heatsink. That was fast, nice living in the same state:yh:

I did something different with your host.
I mounted a small spring on the bottom of the aixiz module, insulated with a small rubber washer and some moldable epoxy. This is for the positive path. It makes a nice firm connection with the battery.
I then sanded the paint off the very tip of the host. Where the version 2 heatsink sits, for the return path.

I already have one laser set up like this, that Mohrenberg built for me, using a Egamus host and a GGW. This way the modules, are all interchangeable. You can just swap them around. I can put the GGW or the LPC in your host on the fly.
