FS: ***MXDL Custom Machined Heatsinks***

I have a Version 2 heatsink design for the sku's 4171 and 3405 hosts. Now you have another choice! :D

These two hosts have a massive heatsink and this new design still has plenty of mass...

These two hosts have enough room inside that we can have a heatsink that is 'flat'. Not protruding out the front. 8-)

Still will fit either module. Here's how the finished build will look with the version 2 heatsink:

So now you have more choices! :)

Just let me know which host, which module size, and which version! (same price)

electron, same goes for your version 1 - 4171/AixiZ heatsink...

Do you do custom work, jayrob?

I'm finding my machine shop a hassle to work with, lately.

Yes, if it's not too tricky... ;D

Get me a specific drawing similar to this picture and I'll let you know if I feel comfortable doing it. It would be the same price as my normal heatsinks, unless it gets really tricky, or if I have to special order the material...

I have many drawings... could you give me a hint about what tools you have?

E.g. if you have a 5.6mm countersink, there's no point in having the AixiZ at all.

Heck, for most of my needs, I would be perfectly happy if the AixiZ was a cube...

Incidentally... define tricky... is a dovetail tricky, for example?

In advance, thanks. :)

I don't want to do any 'press fit for diode' heatsinks. The tolerance is too tight.

Your just going to have to show me a couple of drawings, and then I'll tell you if I'm up to it or not. I'm not a machinist though, just a hobbyist...

I'll see what I can come up with.

The first one is essentially a cube with a 10mm threaded hole in it and a central barrier, though, so I'm not sure if my horrendous drawings will help you any. Three drillings with two diameters. One thread. Maybe a raised ridge, if you're up to it (let me know, so I know whether to put it into the drawing). Nothing fancy, and the tolerances on the cube itself are "whatever you have handy," pretty much. I can get my TECs in any size above 15mm to a side for cheap, so it's all good. It's just a demo.

Does that sound workable?

And, should I move this to PM?

Quite honestly, it sounds like the kind of custom stuff that may not be for me...

I just make simple heatsinks. I don't even have any square stock. I would have to order some.

My lathe is capable of threading, but I am not that skilled on it. Have you talked to LikeitBright? I have seen pictures in his thread... I think that he has better skills on the lathe than I do. And he is offering to make custom heatsinks and builds...
