FS: ***MXDL Custom Machined Heatsinks***

well that was fast! lol got it. sadly though there is a problem. the hole was too small. i only fit about half of the module in and now its stuck  :(

UPDATE: i got it back out BUT i think there might be a little protruding area thats blocking it. I even tried sanding the module AND the inside of the heatsink but it still doesn't fit.  :-/

EDIT: pic below shows how far it will go in.

The barrel slides in, but the tip gets stuck right? I have had a couple like this too. The same drill is used for the heatsinks. It's a little variance in the modules. You should be able to wrap some emery cloth around a screw driver and do some sanding inside. It won't take much!

Just sand it a little bit more. It is not worth the time and postage to have Jayrob do this. I'm sure that he would. It just isn't worth the delay. It should take you about 2 minutes to sand out the hole a bit. It will take more than a week and postage two ways to have jayrob do it. Wrap a piece of sandpaper around something round (pencil, drill, bolt, etc.) and sand it. Sometimes there is a very small protrusion right at the point where the hole for the set screw breaks into the main hole.

Peace,
dave

i've been trying to sand it forever, ha. problem is i only have some fine 800 grit paper. it does go in a little farther now though, but not all the way. more sanding!

With 800 grit paper it will take a bit longer ;) I use 100 grit for areas like this, where it won't be seen. However, it will still be faster than shipping it back and forth. Did you try concentrating your effort over the set screw hole? As the drill cuts into the module hole, it sometimes pushes the aluminum out a little before it breaks through.

Peace,
dave

Dave is absolutely right! He should be with his experience, he has bought a lot of my heatsinks! :)

Thanks for helping out Dave!

Good to know it got to you!

Yes, I ship International... it's just filling out the customs form. Normally, it's $4 bucks for shipping and handling for International...

Thanks a lot. Can't wait to get these in my hands. Have tried to make some myself. I screwed up a lot of aluminium and copper :P I'll reply when i get them. Should be somewhere in the start of next week.

May I ask what that is your using as a cap for the Axizx Module Im assuming it's a
Tail cap you cut to fit but where did you get it?
is it the 14mm ones from DX?

Yes! That's right... check the picture right after the beam shot, in my 'Pocket Pal' tutorial:
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1213338268/0
There's a link to the DX part, as well as an explanation!. I don't normally trim the edges, That one is trimmed, because I was using it for a pointer style...

I tried sending you the money for the MXDL side button host + heatsink +shipping. Apparently, it wasnt insufficient funds, but an error on visa's behalf in the first attempt at sending the money. For some reason, the ballance in my card has gone up a few bucks, so that may have been the problem.

I tried resending it, we'll see what happens, shall we?
